PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink supply opening and an opening end of an atmosphere communication path on one side of a case so as to easily seal them with a sealing member at the time of shipment, to efficiently use an ink, and to easily assemble an ink cartridge. SOLUTION: The ink cartridge 1 comprises a case 2 with at least one side opened, a first chamber 9 and a second chamber 10, partitioned by a partition wall 7a, or the like, opened on the case 2 open side for storing an ink, an atmosphere communication path 11 opened on the case 2 open side, communicating by one end with the inside of the first chamber 9 in the vicinity of the side opposite to the open side, and communicating by the other end with the atmosphere outside the case 2, an upper lid member 3 for covering at least the open side of the first chamber 9 and the second chamber 10, and an ink supply opening 17 formed in the upper lid member 3, for communicating with the second chamber for supplying an ink to a recording head 72.
