PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble environmentally excellent, epoxy group- containing polymer having excellent operability and high stability of the epoxy group in water system, containing a large amount of the epoxy group, capable of exhibiting high cross-linking efficiency and cross-linking density based on the content of the epoxy group, and providing a cured product having excellent softness, elongation and flexibility when used as the cross-linking agent, and further to provide a method for producing the epoxy group-containing polymer. SOLUTION: This epoxy group-containing polymer comprises a polyether part having a structural unit derived from an alkylene oxide, and a structural unit derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having the epoxy group, and has 0.2-6 mmol/g epoxy value. The method for producing the epoxy group-containing polymer involves graft-polymerizing the ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing the ethylenically unsaturated monomer having the epoxy group as an essential component, on the polyether having the structural group derived from the alkylene oxide.
