<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for printing an image onto a photosensitive medium using a plurality of reflective spatial optical modulator. <P>SOLUTION: In the system and method for printing an image onto a photosensitive medium (140) using a plurality of reflective spatial optical modulators (87, 88, 89, 90, 95, 97), an illumination optical element makes uniform the light from at least one light source (20) through a polarization beam splitter elements (60, 63) thus forming an image. The polarization beam splitter elements (60, 63) split the illumination light into two polarization states. Illumination light in one polarization state illuminates the reflection spatial optical modulator by telecentric system. Address of the reflective spatial optical modulator is specified by an image data signal. The reflective spatial optical modulator modulates the polarized illumination light on the basis of site unit and reflects back the modulated light through the polarization beam splitter element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
