<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that displays a dynamic change of a pattern image for maintaining a player's interest, and a game machine with the device. <P>SOLUTION: A center pattern image C<SB>1</SB>displayed in a center display area of a screen is displayed in front of a vortex image 42, and a center pattern image C<SB>2</SB>is displayed behind the vortex image 42. The center pattern image C<SB>1</SB>is moved to the right in front of the vortex image 42, and the center pattern image C<SB>2</SB>is enlarged in size on the left behind the vortex image 42. The center pattern image C<SB>1</SB>moved to the right of the vortex image 42 is compressed behind the vortex image 42, and the center pattern image C<SB>2</SB>is moved from left to right in front of the vortex image 42. The changes of the center pattern images can be repeated to display at least two pattern images revolving round the vortex image 42.
