The present invention depicts the preparation process of 3-formyl-2-hidroxybenzophenona and of its substituted analogs. These compounds are necessary intermediates for the preparation of spiropyrans of the Spiro-(2H-1) benzopyran indoline type substituted with the benzylox fraction. The preparation is carried out under a reaction scheme wherein the main stage is constituted by a Fries transposition reaction.
