PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which transfers a sheet material by selecting and bringing an optimum sheet material transfer rotation member into contact with the sheet material in accordance with a surface state of the sheet material. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises the first sheet material transfer rotation member, the second sheet material transfer rotation member and a shift mechanism for shifting the first sheet material transfer rotation member and the second sheet material transfer rotation member so that a first state in which the first sheet material transfer rotation member is at a position where the member is touchable with the sheet material and the second sheet material transfer rotation member is at a noncontact position to the sheet material, and a second state in which the second sheet material transfer rotation member is at a position where the member is touchable with the sheet material and the first sheet material transfer rotation member is at a noncontact position to the sheet material are made selectable.
