PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a sewing machine making it possible to efficiently store into memory the information needed for displaying a plurality of parts as candidates for malfunctioning parts related to various malfunctions of the sewing machine and to reduce the capacity of the memory. SOLUTION: The sewing machine controller 30 has a flash memory 35 including a first table storing a plurality of parts that can cause a plurality of kinds of malfunctions, in such a way that the parts are related to a plurality of pieces of identification information, and a second table storing the plurality of pieces of identification information corresponding to the plurality of parts that can cause the plurality of kinds of malfunctions of the sewing machine. Thus, even if the same candidate for malfunctioning is related to a plurality of malfunctions, pieces of information such as the display data for the candidates will not be stored in an overlapping manner in the flash memory 35; the malfunctions and the plurality of candidates for the malfunctioning parts related to the malfunctions can be efficiently stored in the flash memory 35.
