PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrophilic coated film not only having excellent hydrophilicity but also having good photodegradability, long-lasting hydrophilicity, excellent abrasion resistance, and excellent durability in warm water and salt water. SOLUTION: The method for producing the hydrophilic coated film comprises coating a composite sol solution comprising a titania sol obtained from a titanium alkoxide and 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol, and polymerizable by dehydration condensation, an oxide sol forming an amorphous oxide by dehydration polycondensation, and a colloid solution of silica, on a substrate, and firing the coated product to form the objective coated film containing a composite of the titania and the amorphous oxide, and silica fine particles.
