PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape of a rudder suppressing increase in rudder resistance as small as possible. SOLUTION: In the shape of a rudder, a front edge portion of a rudder main body in a horizontal section is circular arc, a sectional width gradually increases rearward and reaches the maximum width and then gradually decreases, and a middle sectional shape changes from a projection projecting to the outside to a gentle recess and then reaches the minimum width, and further, the sectional width does not increase and almost linearly continues to a rear end to form a limited width rear end. When it is defined that a whole length from the front edge to the rear end is C, a distance from the front edge is X, a sectional width in the X is T, and the maximum width of the sectional shape is Tmax, the sectional width meets the following relations: T/Tmax: 0.42-0.62 (X/C=0.05), 0.64-0.81 (X/C=0.1), 0.78-0.92 (X/C=0.15), 0.26-0.42 (X/C=0.7), 0.13-0.22 (X/C=0.8), 0.04-0.11 (X/C=0.9), 0.02-0.11 (X/C=0.98).
