The equipment (10) for the re-use of a residual paper roll (3) or several such rolls successively positions them in a first position. It also positions a second roll with new paper (5) in a second position. Residual paper from the positioned residual roll is then fixed to the second roll. Devices (7,8,9,16) then unwind paper from the residual roll(s) and further devices (11,12,13,14,15) wind it onto the second roll. Measurement apparatus (7) during operation measure the properties and/or variables of the residual roll to be unwound. Further devices (8,9,16) regulate the tension of the residual roll. A drive device (14) drives the second roll.
