PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently reduce the detent torque, enhancing the productivity and the cost effectiveness of a stepping motor which is provided with a rotor having a permanent magnet magnetized into multiple poles so that its magnetic poles are reversed alternately along a circumferential direction, two or more stator yokes which are arranged in the periphery of this rotor and form polyphase fields of two or more phases, and exciting coils for exciting these stator yokes, and arranges the magnetic pole portions of the stator yokes so as to be opposed in proximity to the magnetic pole passing surfaces of the permanent magnet. SOLUTION: A soft magnetic intermediate substrate 60 independent magnetically from the stator yokes 3a, 3b on both sides is arranged, at a position which is a predetermined position between the adjoining two stator yokes 3a, 3b, and is opposed in proximity to the magnetic pole passing surfaces of the permanent magnet 22 which forms a rotor 20. This magnetic substance 60 is formed by punching a soft magnetic and ferromagnetic metallic thin plate, and sagging surfaces 71 formed by this punching are positioned on the opposite side to the permanent magnet 22.
