PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data broadcast receiver that can sharply display a character string by means of a font with a size to be easily read even when a menu of a data broadcast program is displayed with magnification or reduction. SOLUTION: The data broadcast receiver of this invention includes: magnification processing sections 23, 24 that change the size of a moving picture to be displayed on a display 20; a font ROM 14 that stores a plurality of kinds of fonts with different sizes as to each of a plurality of characters to configure the character string; approximate sized font selection sections 12, 13 that multiply a magnification of the moving picture with the font size designated by character string information included in a broadcast wave to calculate a theoretical font size and sequentially read a font with the size closest to the theoretical font size from the font ROM; and a tube screen composite section 19 that composites the moving picture whose display size is changed with the image of the character string read from the font ROM.
