PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for reproducing data by repairing an unreadable place on the surface of a recording medium on a file system for reproducing it and to provide a digital camera for repairing a defective place on the recording medium on the file system for reproducing it. SOLUTION: The digital camera 1 has a control part 24 provided with a function as a repair means which constitutes a new extent with the logical address of a sector next to a defective sector as a leading address after retrieving the defective sector in the case of reading a series of data such as picture data, etc. Then, the digital camera 1 describes the leading address of the new extent to the allocation descriptor of a file entry ICB in file information to be recorded at the rear stage of a data file constituted based on a UDF.
