PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance thin film magnetic head made compatible with high-speed writing by forming a sufficiently narrow coil interval and shortening a magnetic path. SOLUTION: A coil of a recording head is constituted of a plated part 3, and a part 19 formed on its side face by ion beam deposition. When the coil is plated, a resist frame between the coils is formed wide, and a plating electrode film is deposited by an ion beam. Thus, a width between the coils is narrowed by an amount equal to the part 19 in which an electrode film is formed on the coil side face by ion beam deposition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
