The bar clamp has a body (20) with a channel (23) through it, and a sliding bar (25) in the channel, which has a front movable jaw (26) and a movable part (24) in the body locating on the bar sleeve-fashion. A fixed jaw (21) evolves from the body and is arranged opposite to the movable jaw, a triangular, elastic positioning part (29) locates sleeve-fashion on the bar, by means of which the bar is locked in the unused position. A front pivot grip (28) runs inclinedly downwards from the body, and has a pair of inwardly directed, opposing tongues (241). A locating plate is fitted sleeve-fashion on the bar, and can slide on teh bar in the unused position. A release lever (30) extends downwards from the locating plate and has a claw-shaped end. A first spring (31) connects the release lever and the pivot grip. A second spring in the movable part, is tensioned against the locating plate.
