Cold fabrication of dense coated road stone, made up of materials or elements (O/D) coated in an emulsion of fluxed or fluidized bitumen, involves separating the materials into two granulometries: the first (O/d) containing finer materials, and the other (d/D) the remaining materials. Prior to coating, the finer materials are treated with an agent to control their ability to preferentially breakdown the bitumen emulsion. The agent used is an aqueous solution of an acid and a surface active agent in approximately equal proportions, and is sprayed onto the fine materials.
