PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for assembling an optical product. SOLUTION: While the gap quantity between an LD element 50 mounted on a 1st mount 52 and a wavelength converting element 54 mounted and fixed on a 2nd mount 56 is denoted as d0 and the gap quantity between the 1st mount 52 and 2nd mount 56 is denoted D1, they are united by applying an adhesive 62 to the gap between the 1st mount 52 and 2nd mount 56. Here, although the coupling efficiency is higher and higher as the gap quantity d0 between the LD element 50 and wavelength converting element 54 is smaller and smaller, and desirable, the yield possibly decreases since the gap quantity d0 decreases owing to shrinkage due to adhesive hardening and the LD element 50 and wavelength converting element 54 possibly abut against each other to break. For the purpose, the optical product which is high in yield and has high coupling efficiency can be assembled by setting the gap quantity d0 for a target gap quantity d1 so that d0=d1+αD1, whereαis the volume shrinkage rate of the adhesive 62.
