PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupler having a low signal loss, in which a strong enough coupling with a lot of optical fibers is kept even when a lot of divisions are made. SOLUTION: A diffusion portion 200 diffuses a optical signal emitted from the end face of an optical fiber 40 of an input waveguide 4. Input reflection portion 210 reflects the optical signal diffused at the diffusion portion 200 in the direction of an output reflection portions 220. A light-transmissive medium 20 leads the optical signal reflected at the input reflection portions 210 in the direction of the output reflection portions 220. The output reflection portions 220-1 to 220-3 reflect the optical signal led in the light-transmissive medium 20 in the directions of the optical fibers 50 of output waveguides 5-1 to 5-3, respectively. The optical signals reflected on the output reflection portions 220 are made incident on the end face of the optical fibers 50 and transmitted through output waveguides 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
