PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive discharge lamp lighting device. SOLUTION: A first winding 34 and a second winding 35 are wound to an iron core of a leakage transformer 3, and a third winding 36 is wound on the second winding 35. A volt meter 5 measuring the voltage of the third winding 36 generated between both ends of the third winding 36 by an electromagnetic induction effect, is connected to both ends of the third winding 36.
