PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device for adjusting a mechanical shutter delay without using a dedicated light source device for adjustment or the like. SOLUTION: In adjusting the delay of a mechanical shutter 103, a delay time updating control part 112a of a system controller 112 performs twice photographing for which a mechanical shutter closing command is outputted at mutually different timings. Also, an exposure detection part 112b acquires two exposures from respective object images and a delay time calculation part 112c calculates equivalent delay time from the two exposures. Then, the delay time updating control part 112a stores the calculated equivalent delay time in an EEPROM only when a variation of the exposure during the time is settled within a prescribed level.
