PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication equipment with an e-mail function capable of automatically designating a repeater only by inputting the telephone number of communication equipment of a final destination. SOLUTION: In a communication system in which image information is transmitted by an e-mail from an Internet facsimile machine 1 to repeaters 3, and by facsimile transmission from the repeaters 3 to facsimile machines 4 of the final destination, an optimum repeater 3 is automatically determined on the basis of the telephone number (an area code) of a facsimile machine 4 of the final destination inputted to the Internet facsimile machine 1.
