PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an image formation processing in which the printing speed is given priority and the image formation processing in which image quality of a printed result is given priority corresponding to the needs by a user or the like in an image formation device tentatively encoding for compression or the like to image data for reutilization later or the like, decoding the encoded data and forming images. SOLUTION: The image formation device is provided with a speed first mode for which a compression parameter is set so as to surely settle a compressed result for one page by an image compression part 12 in a buffer 14. In the case that the mode is selected, after starting compression encoding of the images of the first page, a control part 22 activates an IOT 20 before confirming that the compressed result can be settled in the buffer 14, makes an image expansion part 18 start expansion decoding and makes the IOT 20 start image formation. Also, an image quality first mode is provided, and in the case that it is selected, the images are compressed by a prescribed compression parameter that lowers compressibility compared to the speed first mode and inputted to the buffer 14.
