The operating system for a vehicle i.c. engine (1) with cylinders (2) having at least one inlet (4) and one exhaust (5) valve with ducts (10, 11), and a pressurised gas accumulator (14) linked to a control unit (9). The gas accumulator has an intake (15) connected to the chamber's inlet duct (10) through a gas circulation controller (16), and the control unit (9) is able to hold a cylinder's exhaust valve closed while the cylinder is cut out of the operating cycle, allowing gas to be stored during one mode and used to enhance the engine's performance in another. |
