PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a local oscillator capable of generating a stable local signal and a transmitter and a receiver using the oscillator.

SOLUTION: The local oscillator 6 is constituted of a reference oscillator 61 to be oscillated at fixed frequency, a voltage controlled oscillator 62 capable of changing oscillation frequency in accordance with control voltage, a phase fixing circuit 63 for comparing outputs from both the oscillators 61, 62 and generating the control voltage so that the phases of both the outputs are mutually synchronized, and a multiplier 64 for obtaining a local signal of required frequency by multiplying the output of the oscillator 62.
