PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber having excellent lightweight properties, processability and damping performances, sound absorbing performances, especially damping sound absorbing properties and excellent sound absorbing performances in a low-frequency region, and a simple method for producing the fiber. SOLUTION: The fiber comprises a fiber material consisting essentially of a piezoelectric polymer and containing an electroconductive material. The fiber has the damping sound absorbing properties.
