PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable PDP in which display defect due to insulation breakdown is prevented by preventing inclusion of bubbles in the dielectric layer. SOLUTION: This is a plasma display panel in which a pair of substrates are arranged facing each other by forming a discharge space in between and surface discharge electrodes 24 that face each other with a discharge gap 21 are formed a plurality of rows on the front side substrate. The above surface discharge electrodes 24 are constructed of a plurality of split electrodes 25 that are made by splitting these surface electrodes 24 in width direction and a plurality of connecting parts 26 that connect between these split electrodes 25, and the thickness of the above connecting parts 26 are made smaller than the thickness of the split electrodes 25. Thereby, the undesired spaces that are made in the vicinity of the crossing of the split electrodes 25 and the connecting parts 26 can be made small, and hence inclusion of bubbles at the time of formation of a dielectric layer can be prevented.
