<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material having high sensitivity, excellent graininess and little residual color after processing in rapid processing and less liable to lowering of sensitivity after storage. <P>SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains at least one of compounds of formulae (Ia)-(Ic) and at least one compound of formula (II) in an emulsion layer. In the formulae, Z<SP>1</SP>is S, O, Se, Te, N or C; R, R<SP>31</SP>and R<SP>32</SP>are each alkyl, aryl or a heterocyclic group; D is a group required to form a methine dye; V<SP>1</SP>-V<SP>4</SP>are each H or a substituent; M and M<SP>3</SP>are each a counter ion equilibrated with an electric charge; m and m<SP>3</SP>are each a numeral of≥0 required to neutralize electric charges in each molecule; Z<SP>31</SP>and Z<SP>32</SP>are each a group of atoms required to form an N-containing heterocycle; L<SP>31</SP>-L<SP>37</SP>are each methine; p<SP>31</SP>and p<SP>32</SP>are each 0 or 1; and n<SP>3</SP>is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4.
