PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element which can stably emit light with high brightness and light emitting efficiency. SOLUTION: The organic EL element 100 has a glass substrate 1 on which, a hole injection electrode 2 is formed and on which, a hole transport layer 3, a light emitting layer 4, a hole blocking layer 5 an electron transport layer 6 and an electron injection layer 7 are successively formed. The hole blocking layer 5 contains a ternary complex compound composed of two quinolinol derivatives, IIIB group element, and halogen element or phenol derivative. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
