<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that has the ability of correcting aberration due to disk thickness deviation caused during the production or variance of emission wavelength in semiconductor laser, for example, as well as correcting aberration generating in recording/reproduction on account of change in emission wavelength in the use environment of the semiconductor laser, aging, etc., and that is simple in structure and easy for miniaturization, whose manufacturing cost can be reduced, and also to provide a method for adjusting the device. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device is equipped with a semiconductor laser 1, a collimator lens 2, and an objective lens 25 for converging a laser beam from this semiconductor laser 1 to a prescribed diameter and condensing the laser beam on an optical disk 14, and a photodiode 13 for detecting reflection return light from the optical disk 14. Between the semiconductor laser 1 and the objective lens 25, there are provided a relay lens 21 and a liquid crystal aberration compensating element 23 for the purpose of compensating either wavefront aberration or residual wavefront aberration or both, which is a characteristic of this device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
