<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which reprinting is more quickly performed while excellently maintaining the image quality in the case where a recording material is not normally conveyed to a secondary transfer part by reasons such as the insufficiency of the recording material and the jamming of the recording material with a simple mechanism whose cost is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus in which a transfer means 7 is arranged so as to come into contact with and to be opposed to an intermediate transfer body 5 and a bias is applied to the transfer means 7 at the time of secondarily transferring a toner image on the intermediate transfer body 5 to the recording material P, the polarity of the bias applied to the transfer means 7 is set to be reverse to that of the bias applied at the time of secondarily transferring the toner image on the intermediate transfer body 5 to the recording material P when a toner image primarily transferred to the intermediate transfer body 5 is held on the intermediate transfer body 5 at a position where the transfer means 7 and the intermediate transfer body 5 are opposed and also the recording material P is not conveyed to the position where the transfer means 7 and the intermediate transfer body 5 are opposed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
