PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag base fabric which has excellent bag unfolding property and can efficiently absorb shock to a passenger, and an air bag. SOLUTION: In the air bag base fabric comprising a synthetic fiber woven fabric, a disintegration yarn constituting the woven fabric has≥100 dtex and≤700 dtex total denier and≥1.0 dtex and≤7.0 dtex single fiber denier. The cover factor of the woven fabric is 1,500-2,300, the elongation at 50 N/cm tensile of the woven fabric is≤15% and elongation at 300 N/cm tensile of the woven fabric is≥15% and≤35% to give the air bag base fabric.
