PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a charger which has a charging means 11 charging a secondary battery KB of a portable apparatus K, has superior appearance and, further, can make a user recognize the state of the portable apparatus satisfactorily. SOLUTION: This charger has a display which can be seen from both facing sides in at least one direction among three directions perpendicular to each other, apparatus state detecting means 11 and 13 which detect a state of a portable apparatus K, and a display state control means 15 which controls the display state of the display according to the detection states of the apparatus state detecting means 11 and 13.
