Column for separating one or more compounds from a mixture by simulated moving bed adsorption, comprising adsorbent beds separated by distributor plates, each including a single chamber for fluid distribution, mixing and/or withdrawal, comprises a diverter line connecting the chamber (C1) of one plate to a region (R2) outside the chamber of the next plate. An Independent claim is also included for a process for injecting a diverted fluid in a simulated moving bed process for separating components of a feed, in which a principal fluid is circulated through adsorbent beds contained between plates in a column, secondary fluids are injected and withdrawn in sequence and a fluid diverted from one plate is injected into the next, comprising circulating at least part of the principal fluid outside the column by way of a diverter line connecting the distribution chamber of one plate to a region outside the distribution chamber of the next plate.
