PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyzer capable of efficiently preventing occurrence of uneven surface quality, in the electrolytic treatment of a metallic web with high transporting speed and current density. SOLUTION: The electrolyzer electrolytically treats a metallic web travelling in a specific direction. In this device, a plurality of electrolytic cells are serially arrayed to electrolytically treat the metallic web by an alternating waveform current in an acid electrolyte. Among the electrolytic cells, in the cell situated on the most downstream side to the transporting direction of the metallic web, the electrolytic treatment is performed with a current density lower than that in the electrolytic cells on the upstream side.
