PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent positional deviation of a heat insulating sheet without increasing the number of processes when molding a cylindrical body part for storing a catalyst carrier of the catalytic converter by pressing a multi-layer material having the heat insulating sheet interposed between two metal plates. SOLUTION: A hole 43a is formed in advance when molding a VRMOSUL(R) sheet 43. When press-molding a three-layer structure plate holding the VRMOSUL(R) sheet 43 by two sheets of steel plates 41 and 42, a pair of press dies 7 and 8 provided with a recessed part 7a and a projecting part 8a on the upper side press die 7 and the lower side press die 8, respectively, are used. Projecting parts 41a and 42a fitting each other at the position of the hole 43a of a VRMOSUL(R) sheet 43 are formed on both of the steel plates 41 and 42. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
