PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the matching of responsiveness to valve timing control between a plurality of cylinders in the presence of imbalance in cam shaft load torque between the cylinders due to difference in the type of accessories. SOLUTION: In the B bank, wherein the load of a high-pressure fuel pump (accessary) is imposed on the cam shaft, a function is added for calculating a pump load compensation gain for compensating for the delay in the response of the valve timing control caused by the imposition of the pump load. The function advances the response (cam shaft displacement rate) of the B bank valve time control by the amount equivalent to the delay due to the pump load. The slow-side response (B bank responsiveness) is thereby quickened to match the quick-side response (A bank responsiveness). COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
