PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for performing service negotiation between a mobile terminal (100) and a server (110) for providing the service of the mobile body. SOLUTION: The mobile terminal (100) receives a service request including a list of requested services. The list is compared with a set of available services able to be provided by the server (110). Thus, it is discriminated which service is requested but not available and not provided by the server (110). In order for the mobile terminal (100) to discriminate which services are available, a delta list including unavailable services is finally sent to the mobile terminal (100). It is preferred that a tree structure of multi-levels defined in advance is adopted, the services in the request service list and the delta list are particularized, and a single route node particularizes all the services of subordinate nodes to the single route node. The information and the processing amount exchanged in the mobile terminal can be reduced in this way. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
