<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a longitudinal direction insertion unit by combining a design of light weight with high strength. <P>SOLUTION: This unit comprises an outer sleeve 21, which is distributed to the peripheral part in a manner to connect with a first mounting part, and to which a contour having a first ball groove 22 extending in an inward longitudinal direction is attached; a journal 31, which is positioned inside the outer sleeve and distributed to the peripheral part in a manner to connect with a second mounting part, and to which a contour having a first ball groove 32 extending in an outward longitudinal direction is attached; a plurality of groups of balls 41 arranged in pairs comprising first and second grooves; and a sleeve- shaped ball cage 42 positioned in an annular space between the outer sleeve and the journal and relatively fixing the plurality of groups of the balls to respective positions.
