PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope tensioning column utilizable for tensioning a fall preventive rope along waling H shape steel of an earth retaining wall. SOLUTION: This fall preventive rope tensioning column is formed by arranging a rope locking part 2 on the upper end side of a column body 1, and arranging a clamp device 3 on the lower end side of the column body 1. The clamp device 3 is composed of an upper side hook member 9 having a lower side opening hook part 14 projecting to one side of the column body 1, and fixed to the column body 1, a lower side hook member 10 having an upper side opening hook part 17 projecting to one side of the column body 1, and freely liftable to the column body 1, and a screw means 11 for sandwiching and fixing one side vertical plate part of the H shape steel from above and below by the hook part 14 of the upper side hook member 9 and the hook part 17 of the lower side hook member 10 by pulling the lower side hook member 10 upward.
