<p>An elastomer composition which comprises an elastic material and a filling component, wherein the filling component comprises carbon fibers having a length of 0.1 to 50 μm and a diameter of 0.002 to 0.5 μm and a carbon black. As such carbon fibers, suitable use is made of hollow fibers having a length of 0.1 to 30 μm and a diameter of 2 to 60 nm, i.e., the so-called carbon nanotubes, and fibers being prepared by the vapor phase growth method and having a length of 1 to 50 μm and a diameter of 0.05 to 0.5 μm, i.e., the so-called vapor grown carbon fibers. Such carbon fibers are preferably compounded in an amount of 0.001 to 20 vol % relative to the whole elastomer composition. The elastomer composition exhibits good thermal conductivity, electric conductivity, heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, and the like and also is excellent in formability such as compoundability.</p> |
