The monitoring system comprises at least one set of sensors for measuring the parameters of a roller (8) belonging to a segment defined by at least one process section, roller block or roller. A monitoring system for use in a continuous casting (concaster) installation (11) is claimed, the installation comprising at least one process section (11, 21, 31) in which operational parameters such as load and temperature are maintained within given limits. The process sections comprise at least one roller block (12, 13, 22, 32, 33) for at least one roller (8) mounted in a bearing casing via a bearing. The monitoring system comprises at least one set of sensors for measuring the parameters of a roller belonging to a segment defined by the process section(s), roller block(s) or roller(s).
