PURPOSE: A portable phone is provided to arrange a specific key button for special purpose and a key button for inputting consonants and vowels on a keypad, thereby enabling a user to easily input Korean character. CONSTITUTION: A controller(200) processes an inputted signal when a user operates a keypad(210), displays the processed signal as characters on a display(220), and temporarily stores the inputted characters in a memory(230) if a Korean/English conversion function is selected. If the user presses a specific key button, the controller(200) displays the temporarily-stored characters on the display(220). The keypad(210) has 7 key buttons assigned to generate consonants, 3 key buttons assigned to generate vowels, one key button for generating pair consonants and double vowels, and 9 key buttons for inputting small letters of English from the 10 key buttons for generating the consonants and the vowels. The keypad(210) has one key button for inputting capital letters, one key button for the Korean/English conversion function, a key button for a space, and a key button for a capital letter inputting mode.
