<p>A process for producing a biodegradable polyester whereby various physical properties of the biodegradable polyester can be controlled. Poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate synthase is modified by using an evolution engineering technique and the poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate synthase is expressed in a host.
