METHOD AND APPARTAUS FOR TERMINATING A BROADCAST SERVICE IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and apparatus for terminating a broadcast service in a mobile communication system supporting an HSBS. In the mobile communication system, a BS provides the broadcast service to at least one MS within the cell of the BS. To terminate the ongoing broadcast service, the MS generates a location registration message with type field set to a value indicating a broadcast service termination request when termination of the broadcast service is required, and transmits it to the BS. If the MS is the last one receiving th e broadcast service from the BS, the BS terminates the broadcast service upon receipt of the location registration message.
