The invention concerns a calculator for testing a vehicle real deceleration which, on the basis of said deceleration, of the speed, and external and parametered chronobiological data in accordance with road safety regulations, chronobiological tests or by default, calculates and displays the safety separating distance and the stopping distance. It consists of a central unit (1) comprising predefined processes, connected to a storage system (8); to the speedometer (2), to the braking system (3); to the windscreen wiper system (4) to the lighting system, to a stop watch and a clock (6); to a tachometer (7); and to a front panel (9) comprising a screen for displaying all the functions as well as zones for displaying the stopping distance (91) for the separating distance and for the test result (92) and having control (98) and selection (99) knobs. The calculator is designed to equip instrument panels of light and heavy vehicles.
