A directional indicator tab (1) for attaching to a line to form a guideline, and a guideline incorporating said tabs. The tabs have tapered fins − 4 on the outside. When grasped by a person, the fins give a high degree of resistance to movement in a first direction, and give little resistance in a second, opposite, direction.
