The invention relates to a feeding beam of a rock drilling apparatus, and a hydraulic element. The front part of a first part (1a) of a telescopic feeding beam (1) is provided with a hydraulic element (8), which is arranged to produce a pressure pulse to a pressure channel (13) if a rock drilling machine (5) is driven to its front position and if a second part (1b) of the feeding beam is simultaneously driven to its rear position. The hydraulic element (8) comprises two pistons (19, 20) on the same axis, which pistons, being simultaneously pushed into a pressure space (24) of the hydraulic element (8), are arranged to effect a volume change in said pressure space (24). The volume change causes a pressure pulse, which is recorded.
