PURPOSE: To suppress the generation of a longitudinal shadow in a 'checker- back' display, etc., while artificially actualizing dot-inversion driving by a zigzag structure. CONSTITUTION: Respective pixel formation parts of a liquid crystal panel which are driven by the same scanning signal line Lg are so arranged dispersedly in two pixel rows which are vertically adjacent to each other across the scanning signal line Lg while having horizontal periodicity of upper and lower positions in units of a series of three 'lower', 'upper', and 'lower' pixels. The dot-inversion driving is artificially actualized by driving the liquid crystal panel in modified zigzag structure of three-column cycles like this by a column electrode driving circuit for 1H inversion driving. Instead of the modified zigzag structure of three column cycles, the liquid crystal panel may be constituted so that 12 pixels are arranged so as to have horizontal periodicity of upper and lower positions in units of a series of 'lower, upper, lower, upper, lower, upper, upper, lower, upper, lower, upper, and lower' arrangement positions, i.e., in modified zigzag structure of 12-column cycles instead of the modified zigzag structure of three column cycles.
