A grind stone (1) comprising a mounting dish (2), and an abrasive-grain layer (9) provided on the mounting dish (2). The abrasive-grain layer (9) is a plating film containing abrasive grains (4b). An intermediate layer (7) different in physical properties from the layer (9) is disposed between the layer (9) and the mounting dish (2). The intermediate layer (7) is a plating film containing abrasive grains (4a), and the plating film of this intermediate layer (7) is different in color tone from that of the layer (9). Accordingly, the life of a grind stone can easily be determined, in a grind stone having an abrasive-grain layer with a plating film used as a binder.
