PURPOSE: A pedal assembly with radially overlapping a sensor and a hysteresis mechanism is provided to minimally reduce the radial dimension of a housing and accordingly reduce an occupiable space of the housing for receiving a sensor arm and a braking mechanism by extending the braking mechanism and the sensor arm in the same radial direction instead of overlapping the braking mechanism and the sensor arm in the radial direction. CONSTITUTION: A brake cover(18) and a shaft(24) rotate with a pedal lever(20) and rotate a pedal gear(76) for a central section(14) of the housing. The pedal gear rotates a sensor gear(74) to rotate a sensor arm(46) about a sensor axis(48). The sensor arm supports sensor members that move along sensor bands and generate an electrical signal. When the brake cover rotates with the pedal lever, coil springs are uncoiled to cause brake shoes to pivot outward the radial direction about each post frictionally engaged to an interior surface of the central section and accordingly the movement of the pedal lever is hindered. At least two elements interconnect the sensor arm and the pedal arm to move the sensor member over the sensor band at the desired distance and to reduce an occupiable space. A braking mechanism is radially separated from the sensor arm in a mutually overlapped state along a pedal axis(A). |
